Motorcycle Schools

The Road America Motorcycle School is one of the premier training programs for novice, returning and advanced riders in the Midwest. Eight different levels of motorcycle training are available at our expansive 640 acre venue, which includes five controlled off-street training ranges. Courses are available April through November in a variety of daytime, weekend, and weeknight formats. All courses are designed to maximize the ease of adaptive learning and minimize the risk of riding a motorcycle or scooter. Our staff of highly trained and award winning instructors come from diverse backgrounds which include; education, law enforcement, and racing disciplines.

For new riders interested in becoming licensed to operate a motorcycle, we have the Basic Rider Course (BRC) which requires approximately 19 total hours of commitment and includes a three hour online eCourse, five hours of classroom instruction and ten hours of riding lessons. The second option available for new riders seeking a class M endorsement is the Scooter Basic Rider Course (SBRC) which includes 17 hours of instruction, broken down into seven hours of classroom instruction and ten hours of riding lessons. Tuition for both courses includes the use of a Yamaha motorcycle or scooter.

For returning riders we recommend other great courses like the Street Skills Course 1 (SSC1) or the Street Skills Course 2 (SSC2) which both are designed to simulate real life riding conditions. Other great options include the Basic Rider Course 2 or the Dirt Bike Course.

For advanced riders looking for a thrill we recommend the Supermoto Demo Course (SMD) which serves as a great introduction to the sport of Supermoto. Another option includes the Supermoto Basic Course (SMB) which is a full day supermoto experience taught on Road America’s Motorplex.
