Street Skills Course 1
Participants interested in enrolling in this non-MSF course need to have successfully completed a basic motorcycle (BRC) or hold a valid motorcycle endorsement.
The Street Skills Course 1 (SSC1) is a motorcycle course designed for newly-certified and returning riders seeking additional training to gain confidence to safely operate a motorcycle. Taught by experienced instructors, this course focuses on safe riding practices which include basic riding skill development, clutch operation, shifting, starting and stopping on inclines and braking techniques.
This 5 hour course does include some classroom discussions (approx. 60-90 minutes), with the majority of the time spent on our controlled one of a kind off street training range, the Blain’s Farm & Fleet Motorplex, which is designed to simulate real world riding conditions. This training circuit encompasses nearly one mile of paved roadway equipped with over a dozen unique curves, presenting a variety of real world riding situations like repetitive and alternating lean angles, changes in elevation and line of sight challenges.
Riders can provide their own street-legal motorcycles that are insured (proof required), licensed and adequately fueled to last through the day. Bikes are subject to a safety inspection by our qualified instructors. Those wishing to use a school supplied motorcycle can do so for an additional fee and with advanced notice.
Proper safety gear is mandatory for all range sessions and includes the following:
- Over-the-ankle boots, with good grips on the soles (heel not to exceed 1.5")
- Long pants
- Full-fingered gloves (preferably leather)
- Long-sleeved shirt or jacket
- DOT approved helmet with eye protection (full face helmet is recommended)
Helmets are available for rent for an additional fee and with advanced notice.
