Road America is seeking an energetic individual to join our industry-leading team of passionate and driven leaders. The qualified candidate will fill a year-round, full-time position as an Security and Event Operations Supervisor. This position will be responsible for ensuring a positive and family-friendly environment for thousands of dedicated fans, race teams, and manufacturers. They will do so by developing and implementing Security/Guest Services strategies along with being an integral part of the operations team during events. This candidate will oversee Security/Guest Services policies and procedures, controlling budgets security operations, and staffing.
Reports to: VP of Operations
Key Responsibilities: Duties may include but are not limited to: Managing the security planning and personnel while working cohesively with sanctioning bodies to implement and be inclusive of current security strategies and needs for all event operations (both pre- and post-event), ensuring best practices in correlation with the national Incident Command System (ICS), Road America’s Emergency Action Plan and event Incident Action Plans. This individual will work closely with law enforcement partners and sanctioning bodies to ensure the venue operates and upholds to organizational standards. This position will serve as the most senior contributor and authority on security matters, while ensuring the safety and protection of our staff, guests, facilities, and property at Road America. This position will oversee and conduct quality investigations and provide written reports as required. This person will manage budget, monitoring expenses, and documenting processes. Assist with required documentation to obtain applicable state and county permits. Ensure that setup of all equipment is in accordance with safety standards, including fire, and health codes. This person will be responsible for supervising, recruiting, and training personnel, creating and implementing work schedules, allocating tasks, and monitoring personnel performance while researching new technologies and advancements in security services. This person will efficiently promote cross-department communication to identify, manage, and execute logistics and assist with wayfinding signage placement, property signage, banners, etc., for events. This person will assist with on-site execution of deliverables, resolve any internal and external issues that arise throughout the season events and create event maps and other information to assist staff for each event, while collaborating with existing team members and assisting with event needs as necessary.
Qualifications: The candidate must have excellent leadership, communication, organizational, decision making and computer skills. They must also be proactive and organized, able to multitask, think outside the box, be adaptable and resourceful and troubleshoot problems as they arise under stressful situations. Willing to work long hours and weekends during major events and in varying conditions. Availability to respond to security issues outside of business hours.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Law Enforcement, Criminology, Management or a related security field.
- A minimum of four years of related work experience in the security field and in a leadership capacity.
- A minimum of two years of event planning and/or event execution experience in a sports/live entertainment facility a plus.
- Experience with budget management.
- Knowledge of, and experience in managing the ICS.
