How General Admission Works at Road America

A general admission ticket at Road America gets you onto the grounds for the event days on your ticket. There’s no assigned seating, so you can watch from any public viewing area around the 4.048-mile circuit. You can walk the paddock at most events, and parking is free. Kids under 16 get in free with a paying adult, and buying in advance usually costs less than paying at the gate. Camping, golf carts and hospitality are sold separately. Here’s how it all works.

What general admission includes

General admission covers entry to the property for the days on your ticket. For most major race weekends, Road America sells multi-day weekend tickets. Once you’re inside, here’s what you get:

  • The whole property. Road America has no assigned grandstands. You’re free to roam the grounds and watch from any public viewing area.
  • Paddock access at most events. The paddock, where teams work on their cars, is open to walk-in spectators at most events. The exceptions include NASCAR and certain others, so check your event page.
  • Free general parking. In Road America’s words, “General parking at all Road America events is free with the purchase of an admission ticket.” Parking is in grass areas around the property that aren’t set aside for camping, vendors or competitors.
  • Free on-site extras. A free tram or shuttle runs at most public events. Big screens around the property show the live feed. And there’s a free 18-hole disc golf course.
  • Car corrals. If you drive a Corvette or a Porsche, you can park free in the Corvette Corral at Turn 3 or Porsche Park north of Gate 3. A race ticket is required, but club membership isn’t.

What costs extra

Several things are sold separately from general admission:

Camping Each campsite requires a reservation, plus a full event ticket and a camping wristband for everyone 16 and older. Sites are reserved online during advance ticket sales.
Golf carts Personal golf carts aren’t allowed, but you can rent one in advance through your event’s ticket page or by calling 800-365-7223. There’s a three-day minimum (Friday–Sunday).
Preferred Parking Paid passes for reserved spots near the VIP Tower, with direct paddock access.
Hospitality Packages and upgrades such as the Finish Line Tower, which vary by event.
Karting and track activities Public karting, parade laps and touring laps are priced separately at events where they’re offered.

Camping details, zones and site types are on the Road America camping page, and golf cart rules are on the golf cart rentals page.

Advance vs. gate pricing

Road America sells tickets at a discount until the advance price deadline, which is typically one week before the event. After that, gate prices apply. Some major events also run limited-time advance offers well before race weekend. For 2027, for example, Road America announced advance weekend tickets of $140 for the XPEL Grand Prix and the IMSA weekend, and $80 for MotoAmerica.

Two things to know before you buy:

  • All ticket sales are final. Road America’s rules state: “No refunds or exchanges of tickets.”
  • The gate takes several payment types. Event pages list cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. Many concession stands are cash-only, though, and ATMs are on site.

Find tickets for each event from the Road America events page.

Discounts for kids, students and military

  • Kids: Youth 16 and under get free general admission to season racing events with a paying adult at the gate.
  • Students: A current student ID saves $10 off general admission at the gate. One promotion per person.
  • Military: Road America has offered free general admission to veterans, active military, reserves and retired members with ID at select events. Check ticket promotions for which events qualify.

Road America also sells a Corporate Fast Pass, a transferable card that admits up to two people per day at every public race event.

The Season Pass

If you plan to attend several events, the Road America Season Pass covers general admission to all public race weekends, which Road America describes as more than 50 days of on-track action. It also includes Preferred Parking, half-price entry to Sunset Cruise and Morning Drive events, spectator access to select private track rentals and an annual Season Pass Holder luncheon.

The Season Pass doesn’t include camping, so you’ll still reserve campsites through each event page. Passes are non-transferable and must be picked up at the Road America administration office before the season starts.

How seating works

“Road America does not have reserved seating.” Bleachers around the property are first-come, first-served, and many fans bring their own folding chairs. You can set up at any public viewing area, as long as canopies stay at least 10 feet from the fence and don’t block anyone’s view.

Don’t try to save a spot overnight. Chairs and canopies left out to reserve space are removed. If you’re choosing where to sit, the Good Times Guide has the fan map.

Rules to know before you go

  • Coolers: Carry-ins are allowed in open grass areas and campsites, but not at or near concession stands.
  • Glass: Glass containers of any type are prohibited.
  • Alcohol: Beer, wine and liquor are sold at certain concession locations. No one under 21 may possess or consume alcohol.
  • Pets: Pets must be leashed and cleaned up after, and can’t be left unattended. They aren’t allowed in buildings or the paddock unless they’re ADA-certified service animals.
  • Vehicles: Only licensed, street-legal vehicles are allowed on the property. Personal golf carts, ATVs, UTVs and scooters aren’t.
  • Prohibited items: Weapons, fireworks and drones aren’t allowed.
  • In the paddock: Race vehicles have the right of way, and non-motorized vehicles can’t be ridden there.

Accessibility: ADA parking is available near the Administrative Office and in the VIP lot on a first-come, first-served basis, and all public restrooms are ADA accessible. Read the full Road America general rules and the FAQ before your visit.
