NATION’S BEST AMATEUR ROAD RACERS CHASE NATIONAL TITLES AT ROAD AMERICA

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. – Sept. 22, 2026 – The best amateur road racers from across the country will gather at Road America, October 1-4, for the Mission Foods SCCA National Championship Runoffs, the season-ending event that determines the best of the best in Sports Car Club of America road racing.

For more than 60 years, the Runoffs have brought together top drivers from across the United States for one final test of skill, preparation, and determination. The event is widely recognized as the pinnacle of American amateur road racing, with each driver arriving at Road America focused on one goal: winning a national championship.

Qualifying begins Thursday and continues Friday as competitors battle for starting positions. The intensity rises Saturday and Sunday with 18 winner-take-all championship races across 24 classes. Each race is scheduled for 13 laps or 40 minutes, making every position and every lap count.

Fans will see one of the most diverse collections of race cars assembled anywhere in the country. The field includes powerful GT machines and American sedans, production-based touring cars, Spec Miatas, open-wheel formula cars, purpose-built prototypes and Spec Racer Ford entries.

The Runoffs also provide an open and welcoming experience for spectators. Fans can walk through the paddock, see teams preparing their cars, meet drivers and get an up-close look at the machinery. Grid walks on Saturday and Sunday offer another chance to experience the excitement before the championship races begin.

Friday includes public karting from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Families can also play Road America’s free 18-hole disc golf course, visit the Paddock Shop, enjoy food and beverages, and use the weekend tram to explore the scenic 640-acre property. Racing can be heard throughout the facility on 87.9 FM.
