ELKHART LAKE, Wis., - September 16, 2020 - On Saturday, October 31, Road America and myTEAM TRIUMPH Wisconsin are teaming up to host the Road America Classic, a 4-mile Walk-Run to benefit myTEAM TRIUMPH Wisconsin which supports athletes with disabilities in Wisconsin.

For more than 40 years, the American Cancer Society has hosted a Walk-Run event at Road America in late October. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and that cancer patients – many with compromised immune systems – are some of the most vulnerable to COVID-19, the organization has decided to hold its annual event virtually. This allows everyone, including cancer patients, survivors, and their caregivers, to participate safely.

Participants are encouraged to join the Road America Classic as an individual or form a team with their family, church, school, club, or company.

myTEAM TRIUMPH Wisconsin recently held its 12 Hours of Road America event raising over $112,000 for athletes with disabilities. For 2020, myTEAM TRIUMPH Wisconsin will conduct the Road America Classic Walk-Run by following local policies and protocols relating to COVID-19 and encourages participants to follow safe practices at Road America, such as social distancing (maintaining six feet from others), frequent hand washing, or using one of the many new sanitizer stations located throughout the facility. Cloth face coverings are also recommended in areas where social distancing is difficult to maintain. For additional details on Road America’s Active Measures Against COVID-19, check out our webpage at www.roadamerica.com/safety

“We are grateful to myTEAM TRIUMPH Wisconsin, and all of the fans, sponsors, and contributors, who have stepped up to support the event after COVID-19 swept in and disrupted plans for the American Cancer Society. Now the commitment is stronger than ever, and the contributions to both the American Cancer Society and myTEAM TRIUMPH Wisconsin will benefit many more,” said Mike Kertscher, President and General Manager of Road America. “Their commitment to host the event is tremendous and we are proud to continue the effort.”
