Road America Set to Host World Challenge America, and its International Field of Top GT Race Teams August 28-30

ELKHART LAKE, Wis., - Aug. 20, 2020 - Road America is set to showcase some of the world’s top GT race teams as the World Challenge America series returns to the challenging 4.048-mile, 14-turn road course August 28-30. The series is a part of a global series racing in Europe, Asia, and America showcasing a new race format with 90-minute, double-header races featuring full-service pit stops, driver changes, and increased strategy. In addition, the weekend will feature Pirelli GT4 America, GT Sports Club America, and TC America series for a jam-packed weekend of sports car racing.

With the 2020 season winding down the Road America weekend encompasses rounds seven and eight of the World Challenge America racing calendar and series’ championship battles are close. Mercedes-AMG DXDT Racing’s George Kurtz and Colin Braun come into the Road America weekend atop the Pro/Am Driver’s Championship standings with 109 points after two second place finishes at Sonoma. The duo are only one point ahead of the Ferrari Squadra Corse team of Martin Fuentes and Rodrigo Baptista who enter the weekend second in the Championship only one point behind the leaders after winning Round 6 at Sonoma.

Fans are welcome to enjoy watching World Challenge America’s incredible cars featuring manufacturers like Acura, Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche, and so much more. The World Challenge garage area will be limited to essential team and series personnel and fans will be encouraged to follow safe practices such as social distancing (maintaining six feet from others), frequent hand washing, or using one of the many new sanitizer stations located throughout the facility. Cloth face coverings are also recommended in areas where social distancing is difficult to maintain.
