ELKHART LAKE, Wis., – September 13, 2022 – The Ariens Art on Wheels Weekend featuring VSCDA is history in motion — fast motion, and it’s oh-so-real. Race cars from around the world, and nearly every era of racing, wake from their slumber to not only appear before adoring fans but to relive their glory on a racetrack from September 16-18 at America’s National Park of Speed.

The annual celebration of vintage and historic racecars and sports cars attracts over 300 vehicles to the famed 4-mile, 14-turn road course. The fan-friendly paddock is open to spectators for close-up views of amazing racing machines prepared to era specifications all weekend.

For 2022, the event will feature The Women of Motorsports with honored guests Lyn St. James, Victoria Thomas, Cindi Lux, Pam Shatraw, Sabré Cook, Barb Nevoral, and Connie Ensing.

Also, for the 13th year in a row, VSCDA will hold its famous Cup races. The Kimberly, Sheldon, and Elkhart Lake Cup races will take place on Sunday. These Cup races are based on the original races held on the roads in and around Elkhart Lake from 1950 to 1952.

On Saturday, race attendees can enjoy a special Concours d’Elegance at Road America in the Fan Walk area by Victory Lane. A curated selection of vehicles will be displayed from 10 a.m. until the Concours Awards at 6 p.m. The Concours d’Elegance will be open to the public from 4-6 p.m. with a $20/vehicle donation to the Women of Motorsport North America. Make your donation in advance or at the gate starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 17. Additional donations are also welcome.

Also, on Saturday, race fans can participate in Coffee & Canvas. Enjoy a painting class while sipping coffee with Chris Bonk’s Bottle and Bottega. The cost is $35/person (plus event admission), including coffee and all painting supplies. The class will be held in the Paddock Concessions Shelter. Space is limited. Anyone interested is encouraged to register in advance through the VSCDA website.

The annual Road Course Re-Enactment on Saturday is a police-escorted tour of the original Elkhart Lake 1950-1952 public road race course that leaves Road America at 2:45 p.m. Race cars, street cars, and motorcycles are invited to participate. VSCDA has been doing this re-enactment for 30 years and often attracts 100+ vehicles. The Brass Era Touring Group of 25 classics featuring Rolls Royce Silver Ghosts, a Thomas Flybout, Packard, Pierce-Arrow, a Locomobile, and Peerless, will join the vehicles. You can register your vehicle to participate for $50/vehicle (plus event admission) or watch for free from many vantage points in Elkhart Lake.

On-track touring sessions will be offered on Saturday and Sunday for street-legal sedans and sportscars (no trucks, SUVs, vans, motorcycles, or racecars) for $60/vehicle each day (plus event admission) with proceeds benefiting Women in Motorsports North America. The mandatory driver’s meeting will start promptly at 11:15 a.m. at the Touring Paddock. Advance registration through VSCDA is recommended, or purchase your touring pass at the Registration building inside Gate 6 by 10:45 a.m. each day.
