STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Road America is seeking an individual with a passion for motorsports to grow with our organization and fill a full-time Staff Accountant position, reporting directly to the Director of Finance. This person will handle day-to-day accounting duties as outlined below.

Duties include (but not limited to):

  • Daily integration of all sales transactions including invoicing, posting invoices to portals, cash receipt applications, etc
  • Responsible for monitoring and collection of past-due invoices
  • Record bank deposits, credit card receipts, wires, and ACH payments
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements
  • Record AP vouchers and process weekly check run
  • Assist with reporting and processing new seasonal staff
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for seasonal staff and post entry for permanent payroll
  • Process, review, and mail W-2’s at year-end for seasonal staff
  • Maintain Fixed Assets and depreciation records for the year
  • Record monthly journal entries and accruals
  • Responsible for reporting and filing monthly sales tax reports
  • Assist with year-end audit workpaper maintenance
  • Maintain a log of required Certificates of Insurance on all subcontractors
  • Strategic planning with cost savings items
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Management team

Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field of study
  • 3-5 years of experience in private accounting field
  • Previous Microsoft Business Central experience a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Must be able and willing to multi-task
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal communication, and problem solving skills
  • Several weekends will be required to work, during the public weekend schedule (May-Sept)

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, sit, stand, talk, hear, and use hands.  The employee is subject to periodic outside environment conditions such as cold weather or extreme heat, subject to noise and fast-moving objects to support race events.  Must have the ability to lift at least 25 lbs. occasionally.

Hours:  40+ hours per week off-season, 50+ hours per week during the season.  Hours can be long and vary by week and event type. The candidate must be willing to work days, nights, and weekends to support events.
